Sticky Mats for Keeping Clean Zones Clean

Sticky mats, sometimes called cleanroom adhesive mats or tack mats, are multilayer sheets that pull dust and dirt off footwear and trolley wheels before it travels deeper into a space. Each layer carries a pressure sensitive water based adhesive, and when the top sheet looks dirty you peel it away to reveal a fresh one underneath. Numbered labels on the corner make that peeling step obvious even when the mat is grimy and nobody wants to inspect the edges too closely.

The construction is simple but it solves a real problem. A low residue PE film base keeps the mat flat against the floor without sliding around, and the adhesive holds firmly enough to grab particles yet releases cleanly when the layer is spent. The sheets resist tearing during peeling even in doorways where people are walking through all day. Standard sizes include 0.913 by 1.13m, 0.9 by 0.9m, and 0.6 by 0.9m, in white, grey, and blue, with custom options available.

Where these mats earn their keep is at the boundary between clean and dirty. Cleanrooms in semiconductor and pharmaceutical production use them at airlocks and gowning areas to stop contaminants from entering controlled zones. Hospitals place them at operating room entrances and laboratories, and electronics plants rely on them to keep fine dust away from sensitive components. Construction crews lay them down during renovations to reduce dust migration, and workshops, offices, schools, and gyms use them to keep floors cleaner with less effort.

The appeal is straightforward. A sticky mat is a cheap low tech line of defense that quietly does its job at the threshold, and when the top layer is full you just peel it off and carry on.
