Corflute Sheet and the Quiet Workhorse of Site and Sign

Walk past a building site or a real estate agent’s window and you have probably seen corflute without giving it a second thought. The material is a twin wall polypropylene sheet, extruded with a fluted core between two flat skins, and it turns up wherever something light, stiff and temporary is needed. Thicknesses run from 2mm up to about 11.5mm, with 1220 by 2440mm and 1200 by 1800mm as the common sheet sizes, though custom cuts are easy to arrange.

What makes it useful is how little fuss it causes. It resists water and most spills, so a wet site does not turn it to pulp like cardboard. It takes an impact without shattering, and it can be scored, folded or cut with a hand knife on the spot. On a renovation, crews lay it over finished floors and stair treads to catch dropped tools and paint splatter. Sign makers print directly onto it because the surface holds ink cleanly and survives outdoor weather far better than paper-based board. Packaging teams use it as a sturdier replacement for cardboard dividers and boxes, and growers fold it into tree guards or use it for horticultural protection.

The sheet is not built to last forever. Prolonged sun exposure will eventually dull the surface and make the edges brittle. But for the weeks or months when a floor needs shielding, a sign needs posting or a shipment needs a rigid layer, corflute does the job without ceremony. It is recyclable, affordable and entirely unpretentious, a quiet workhorse that asks for no attention while everything around it stays protected.
