Carpet Saver and the Quiet Protection of a Floor That Has to Look New

A carpet takes a beating during a renovation. Paint drips, dropped tools and the constant shuffle of boots all leave their mark, and by the time the job is finished the floor that was meant to look fresh has already aged a year. Carpet Saver exists for that narrow window. It is a transparent polyethylene film, just 0.15mm thick, that rolls out over carpet, flooring and countertops and holds itself in place with a self adhesive backing.

What makes it practical is how little it interferes. The film is clear, so the carpet underneath still shows through and nobody has to work around a fogged up surface. It sticks securely enough to stay put under foot traffic, yet peels away cleanly when the work is done, leaving no residue behind. Rolls run from 100mm to 1600mm wide and up to 2000 metres long, which means a single roll can cover a hallway or a whole floor depending on the job. Thickness sits at 0.08mm to 0.15mm, thin enough to stay flexible around edges and furniture legs.

The places it turns up are mostly messy ones. Construction crews lay it over carpets and finished floors before trades move through a building. Real estate agents use it during viewings and open homes where shoes are a constant worry. Event organizers roll it out over flooring and outdoor setups before catering and foot traffic arrive. It also finds work in manufacturing facilities, protecting glass, metal and plastic surfaces during handling and transport.

Nothing about Carpet Saver is dramatic. It is a clear sheet that sits between a surface and the wear of a working day. But for anyone who has pulled up a film and found the carpet beneath still looking new, that quiet protection is the whole point.
